Three faculty members from LUCID partner universities have been selected to receive scholarships to study in Belgium with funding from the Académie de Recherche et d’Enseignement supérieur (ARES).

Oliver Naretto is a faculty member of Central Mindanao University’s College of Agriculture. He will undergo a month-long stage training on Remote Sensing Technologies under the Earth and Life Institute – Environment/Geomatics (ELI) of the Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL).

Clarice Colleen Q. Manuel is a part-time lecturer at the Department of Economics, School of Social Sciences, Ateneo de Manila University. Ice is slated to receive two scholarships:  (1) Advanced Master in International and Development Economics and (2) Doctor of Philosophy in Development Economics. The former is a prerequisite to obtain the scholarship for the latter. The Master scholarship is for AY 2016-2017 under the Université de Namur’s Center of Research in the Economics of Development (CRED).

Pamela Joy Mariano-Capistrano is a full-time instructor at the Department of Philosophy, School of Humanities, Ateneo de Manila University. PJ also serves as the School of Humanities’ Coordinator for Student Exchange. She will receive a PhD research scholarship under Université de Namur’s Département de sciences, philosophies et societies  (SPS).

LUCID scholars were selected after a stringent and competitive selection process. ESSC circulated the call for nominations to partner universities in the Philippines as early as 2015. Expressions of interest among faculty members of partner universities were received and processed throughout 2016. Focal persons of LUCID partner institutions comprised the selection committee, with secretariat support from ESSC.
